The Camp Fire Story – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time, somewhere in North America, there was a boot camp which was manned by a woman everyone conveniently nick named Miss. Smiley Face.

She was tall, slim, blonde, smart, strong and beautiful but the one thing that always stood out to everyone that met her was her smile. It never seemed to leave her face even for a second. It was always there. No! it wasn’t one of those smiles that one wore as a face mask, but it was one of those smiles you could see was an unaltered expression of what was inside; deep within the soul.

Every summer, Parents would send their kids to her boot camp. Many of whom where trouble makers who delighted in driving their parents crazy. Manning a camp with a collection of kids who have excelled in bad behaviour from all over the United States, Canada, Australia and the U.K wasn’t something people would like to do even for a million bucks, considering the fact that the kids might make them run mad before they get the chance to touch the million bucks much less to work for free like Miss. Smiley Face did.

Miss. Smiley Face’s Dad was the fourth richest man in the world and his ultimate weapon to ensure his daughter’s security was to keep the existence of his daughter away from the press. He would rather pay off the press than to plunge his daughter into a world of ‘A – list Celebrity’ fame – a world she wanted nothing to do with.
Miss. Smiley Face didn’t seem to bother about what she had in stock this summer. Elijah Freeman, nationally known as Eli the terrible, would be at her camp this summer. He was a 12 year old whose pranks where immortalized in forums around the internet. Videos of his work had received over 1.5 million page views. There was even talk that a popular video game publisher which focuses on making controversial games that uphold the dark side of human nature would soon be getting him to sign a lifetime contract because they want to start an annual video game series based on him. I mean to their evil loving minds he was the best thing that happened since ‘Chucky’ from the movie ‘Child’s Play.’

When Eli the terrible finally arrived at Miss. Smiley Face’s Boot Camp, Miss. Smiley Face welcomed him warmly. That day however, marked the beginning of a string of never seen before and never pulled before pranks in the boot camp.

Normally, everyone that was 13 years old and below in the boot camp were pranksters. However Eli the terrible’s pranks not only outshined the others making him look like the only prankster in the camp, but it made the others hate pranks so much that they got disgusted by pranks.

In the past, they had enjoyed pulling pranks on others but having pranks pulled on them on a massive, diabolical, never ending scale by Eli the terrible made them begin to hate pranks with all their soul.

It seemed as though their desire and passion to pull pranks on others had evolved into a hatred for Eli the terrible and all that he stood for.

No matter how many pranks the kids pulled to get back at Eli the terrible, it always back fired. Eli the terrible just couldn’t be pranked. No one could prank the King of pranks.

They soon gave up trying to prank Eli the terrible and with time they changed and they found out that they didn’t hate Eli the terrible. They hated what he stands for – they hated the mischief that the boy did and not the boy that did the mischief. The programs at the camp were changing their way of thinking.

Though Eli was used to being hated, he was shocked that the other campers didn’t hate him. The knowledge of this fact really struck a chord with him.

About a week later, Miss. Smiley Face took all the kids on a camping trip in the woods. When night fell she and her assistants taught the kids how to set up tents, fetch the right kind of wood for firewood, and also a few other camping basics. She then got them all to sit together in a circle around the camp fire.

She started by leading them in her favourite camp song: “Jesus loves me this I know, for the bible tells me so …”
It may not be what many would call a camp song, but it was Miss. Smiley Face’s favourite camp song.

After singing a few other Christian songs (which though would be surprising to others that a bunch of kids with no Christian background or sometimes not even a single Christian in their ancestry, were quite taken by a song about Jesus was no surprise to Miss. Smiley Face at all) she asked them to tell the scariest stories they’ve ever heard. It could be a made up story or a true life story.

A kid then told an incredible story about an alien invasion.

Another kid told a story about when armed robbers came to their house one night.

One kid talked about a scary dream he once had, it was so scary that you could almost visibility see that the blood of some of the kids run cold even though they were sitting around a beautiful camp fire.

Miss. Smiley Face then proceeded to tell them a story of her own – a true life story.

It was a story of love and of sacrifice. A story about dying for the one you love even though they had betrayed you time and time again. It was a story of someone who loved the one who spat on him, scourged him, insulted him, and condemned him; yet still refused to stop loving them. It was the story of the greatest Royal ever who degraded himself for a common person because of love and ended up dying for that person. It was a story of someone who choose to die in place of someone he loved. It was the story of Jesus Christ.

Jesus was the one who gave his all for the one he loved. We are the ones that he loved so much. This is a true life story. This is our true life story. This is the true life story of every man, woman, boy and girl on this planet. Jesus loves everybody and Jesus died for everybody.

After the story, tears were in the eyes of all the campers. Miss. Smiley Face led them all in a prayer of salvation, then later lay hands on them and they all received the Holy Spirit and became spirit filled tongue talking believers.

They were totally reformed. Eli the terrible was now a saint. He stopped pulling pranks on people, started helping people, reading books, talking to people about Jesus and even refused to sign the contact with the video game company. He also stopped people from called him Eli the terrible. He now loathed what the nickname implied he stood for. People had to readjust to calling him his real name – Elijah Freeman. He was now a new man who was free in Christ.

Thanks to Miss. Smiley Face’s CAMP FIRE STORY a bunch of kids who many have written off as delinquents would have a bright, successful and glorious future – a happily ever after with Jesus. Thanks be to God.

A Brave Knight Can Only Go So Far – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time in a land far far away, the people of far far away had a giant problem – literally.

A giant named Giganto (who was so tall that when he stood up straight, his body from his chin up would be lost in the clouds) would be coming to far far away to make them slaves.

The King and Queen of far far away called upon the Knights of the Round Table to come up with a solution.

The head of the Knights of the round table, Obed suggested that they attack.
They would fight the giant. But Caleb the youngest knight (who had a reputation for not being very strong, brave or Knightly in any way) said that that would be foolish, that the giant would only crush them underfoot. He explained that compared to the giants, they were like ants.

Caleb was laughed at for stupidity. He should be thanking God they don’t kick him out of the knights of the Round Table. But perhaps that’s what they get from choosing a Knight that knew nothing about bravely, they thought. Why, if Caleb’s late father hadn’t been one of the greatest knights of the Round Table whoever lived they wouldn’t have even let Caleb touch a sword.

Celeb told them in desperation that going to fight a giant was just plain stupidity not bravery.

“What else can we expect from a boy who is living in his father’s shadow”, the head of the Knights of the Round Table said, he also made it very clear that if Celeb didn’t shut up he might not get to see the morning sun ever again.

Obed organised the Knights and others in the land of far far away who were ready to fight and defend their land. Obed left out Caleb because in his words, “..he didn’t want little boys to ruin his plan.”

Obed and his quickly put together army attacked and like Caleb said they all got crushed.

Since Celeb was the only knight who didn’t want to go and wasn’t allowed to go, Caleb was the only member of the Knights of the Round Table that was still alive.

Caleb the only knight alive went before the King and Queen. He told them that he feels bad about the demise of his fellow knights as well as all the volunteers in far far away who were eligible to fight but they would have all been alive if they had listened to what he said.

Although the King and Queen hated to admit it, they knew Caleb had a point. But now their only option was to flee the land of far far away. The little stunt they had pulled had made Giganto really angry, now they weren’t sure whether he would still want to make them slaves or just kill them all out of anger.

Caleb told the King and Queen that they shouldn’t run. That there is no need for their marvellous reign to come to an end just because of Giganto. He told them to give him a little time and he would come up with a permanent and satisfactory solution in which no life would be lost.

The King and Queen where sceptical because Caleb was so young and in far far away Men where ranked according to their strength and bravery, none of with Caleb was known to have. He was just a young man who spent all of his time writing psalms and reading books all day. In the King and Queen’s eyes, he was a scholar not a knight. He had no business being a knight in the 1st place, he was nothing like his father, he would do better as the Dean of education of the prestigious University of far far away.

However, the King and Queen knew that they had paid the price – a very expensive price for not listening to Caleb. If they had listened so many wouldn’t have died. Anyway, what do they have to lose now, they might as well listen to what he says.

So they gave Caleb some time to come up with a plan – a solution.

Caleb got on his horse and headed for the chapel of far far away.

Once there, he got on his knees and began to pray. Unlike most people who pray then get up and walk away, Kaleb knew that prayer was communication with God – It was communication and communication means two people exchanging words – talking to one another. Which means when he speaks, God replies, then he responds to God’s reply and God responds to that and so on and so forth – COMMUNICATION.

So when he communed with God, he was clarified on what to do – he got all the information from God that he needed.

When he returned to the castle to stand before the King and Queen; he stood with confidence, with boldness, with a certainty of victory, because God’s plans never fail – they just can’t.

Caleb told the Queen that they should command everyone in the city to gather together, but 1st he would need to have a round table meeting with every baker in the land of far far away, that they would be baking the largest cake anyone had ever seen – a cake which its tip reached above the clouds.

“ARE YOU CRAZY! DO YOU THINK THIS IS SOME KIND OF JOKE???”, the King and Queen shouted simultaneously.

But Caleb reminded them that they had agreed to give his plan a chance they were bond to their word, a King or Queen was never supposed to take back their word. Besides they should remember what happened the last time they didn’t listen to him. He also told the King and Queen that they should bear in mind that their alternative plan – their plan to run away is flawed because there is no way that Giganto would come to far far away. Look for them, not find and go back home. Giganto not seeing them there would only make him more angry after travelling that long distance from the land of the giants and he would dedicate at least the next few weeks if not the rest of his life to find them and that means he would certainly find them.

Thus Caleb proved out to the King, there were only 3 options: (i) His plan (ii) Death (iii) Slavery (if Giganto is unusually merciful to them).

“Very Well”, the Queen said, waving her hand instructively to Caleb for him to go and carry out his plan, “Do as you wish”
“Thank you, your grace”, Caleb said as he prostrated to them. Then he turned to go.

“Oh! Caleb”, the King called to him gently as he sat on the throne.

Caleb turned to face the king.

“If you are successful in this endeavour of yours, it means that everyone in the land of far far away would owe their lives to you. A feat that won’t go unrewarded.”

Caleb smiled and bowed, then turned to go away again.

What was the King really saying – What did he really mean? Anyway, Caleb didn’t have time to think of that, he had to focus on the task ahead of him.

A miracle that in itself was something to talk about for generations to come was that Caleb pulled off supervising the making of the largest cake in all of time. A cake bigger than any ever made before and from the looks of it, bigger than ever would be made again. He pulled it off within days, just before the giant Giganto showed up. That goes to show the power of prayer. He had prayed about it.
Caleb also stood on a fence they called the wall of the watchman. It was actually part of the wall that surrounded the capital city of far far away. On it was a special horn – the only one of its kind. It is said to have been put together centuries ago from the horn of a dinosaur the ancients called the Screamasourous. It was said the dinosaur had the ability to make a sound that was a billon times louder than any sound any other creature could ever make. Although no one has lived long enough to validate that claim, the noise gotten from the special horn built from one of its tusks amplified the voice of anyone speaking through it that everyone on the continent of far far away could hear it clearly.

The King and Queen of far far away keep the horn to be used for only emergencies. It was so loud they hated to use it but today Caleb would be going to use it to talk to the giant Giganto.

Caleb also told all the people of far far away to get balloons that are imperious to air and liquid, and then to use a rubber band to tightly tie them around their ears in a way that their entire ear would be covered with the balloon. The purpose of this was to lessen the impact of the sound of the special horn on their eardrums. He had read somewhere that sound doesn’t travel through vacuums and since only a little air might escape into the balloon at the moment they are trying to tie it around their ears, then they would be able to partially hear his conversation with the giant.

When Giganto came, Caleb quickly began praising the Giant and saying all kinds of good things about him.

The people of far far away where shocked. They were all like, what does he think he’s doing.

Caleb didn’t mind what he knew the people would be thinking he just went on. He told Giganto that the knights that attacked him where renegade and weren’t acting on the behalf of everyone in the land of far far away.

Caleb told the giant that he personally believes that those knights got what they deserved.
This angered the King and Queen like Caleb knew it would but he just kept going.

Caleb told the Giant that the people of far far away were extremely privileged to have the opportunity to become his slaves and the cake he saw before him was a sign of their gratitude. Caleb promised the giant that they would be his loyal slaves and serve him with joy and gusto.

That did it, the King and Queen of far far away was extremely angry with Caleb. What a traitor he had turned out to be. They could order for Caleb to be removed from the front of the special horn but not when Giganto was there. Not when Giganto was warmly becoming Caleb’s close friend – No, close slave.

The giant Giganto was thoroughly pleased with Caleb. All the anger that Giganto had come with had totally vanished.
Giganto moved close to the cake that was almost twice his size and inhaled. Hmmm, Yum – Yum.

Giganto ate the whole cake and as it is the case with a human who eats a volume of cake that’s almost twice his size, Giganto began to have a running tummy.
Giganto taught he was dying. He had never eaten so much in his life. How could he have? Just the same way humans don’t eat meals that are almost twice their size, in the land of the giants no one cooked a meal that was almost two times the size of the giant. So Gigantohad never had a running tummy before. He just lay helplessly on the ground holding his stomach and screaming that he has been poisoned.

The King and Queen walked up to Caleb, they were pleased with him. They told him that when he was talking to Giganto, they taught he was being a traitor. That they never guessed that he poisoned the cake the giant would eat.

Caleb told the King and Queen that actually he didn’t poison the cake that the only thing different about the cake was that he made sure it was the sweetest cake he (Caleb) ever tasted.

“WHAT!” they King and Queen exclaimed.
Caleb explained to them that if he had poisoned the cake it means he would have killed Giganto.

“Shouldn’t that be the general idea?” the King and Queen asked simultaneously.

“If I kill Giganto, the people of far far away would rejoice that their enemy is dead but when the news of Giganto‘s death reaches the land of the giants, at best only all of Giganto’s friends and loved ones would come to the land of far far away to take revenge, and at worst the King of the land of giants would send the army of the giants to kill everyone in the land of far far away. Either way everyone in the land of far far away would die. So killing Giganto would not be wise”, Caleb replied.

“So what have you done to him then?” the King and Queen asked simultaneously.

“I gave him a running stomach”, Caleb answered.

“YOU WHAT?!?” The King and Queen could hardly believe their own ears, “YOU WANT?” they asked again with rhetorical anger. “Won’t that just make him mad when the running stomach is over?”

“As you may observe your majesties, Gignato doesn’t know that he has a running stomach, he thinks that he is dying”, Caleb answered in a maybe too released manner.

“But he’s not dying and he would soon get better, and when he does he would only be in a lot of rage.” The Queen stressed.

“Your majesties”, Caleb responded showing respect. “You gave me the right to take care of this problem. I humbly ask that you give me the courtesy to finish what I started.” He swallowed, then added “No questions asked.”

The King and Queen stared at him in silence. After the seconds which seemed like so many minutes passed. The Queen let out a “very well.” She looked at her husband the King.

Her husband looked back at her then turned to Caleb and said, “You may proceed.”

It was a matter of honour. Kings and Queens are bound to be people of honour.
As Giganto lay on the ground swimming in pain, he told Caleb that he should have known better than to trust a citizen of far far away. He had been outsmarted by someone with a much more smaller brain.
Caleb told Giganto that there is a cure but 1st he must promise to spare all the people of far far away and also in times of difficultly when the land of far far away is attacked by enemies they can’t handle, that he would show up and protect them.

“What???” Giganto cried out through the pain in his tummy.

“Hey! If you want to remain like that, it’s fine with me”, Caleb answered calmly, then turned to walk away from the special horn.

“Wait! I’ ill do it … I’ ill protect your land … Besides you’ ill practically be saving my life by giving me a cure.” Giganto felt a tight squeeze on his stomach then he barked as one who senses his time is near, “Now what is the cure?”
Caleb made Giganto back up his promise with the Giant’s Oath. That way his word would never be broken, because any giant from the land of the giants who takes a Giant’s Oath that he/she was going to do something and doesn’t do it, that person would be said to have desecrated the honour of all the giants in the land of the Giants, and that giant would be hunted down by the other giants in the land of the Giants and would be killed.

Now that Caleb was sure that Giganto would not harm anyone in the land of far far away now or any time in the future. Caleb told Giganto that all he needs is to use the toilet, he explained that all the running tummy would do is make him want to use the toilet a whole lot more than he normally does, and the more he uses the toilet the better he would feel.
Since there was no toilet for giants in the land of far far away, Caleb instructed Giganto to use the sewage fertilization system the King and Queen had built to fertilize every farm in the land of far far away. It had been constructed in a way that the smelly fertilizer would not disturb the residents of far far away. So the people didn’t have to bother about smells when Giganto started using it.

Caleb told Giganto to always remember that he could just as easily have poisoned the cake to kill him like he wanted to do them, but he chose not to.
Giganto knew it was true, he knew he owed his life to Caleb. He knows has if Caleb was half as wicked as he was he wouldn’t be alive.

So that day it was recorded in the minds of all in the land of far far away and beyond that Caleb saved the lives of everyone in far far away including the throne – the rule of its King and Queen.

Caleb was rewarded in a way he never imagined he would. You see, the King and Queen had no children of their own, so they adopted him saying they feel it is right to make him ruler after them. No one was more fit to be ruler anyway. Besides, if it wasn’t for him, there would be no kingdom anyway.

Thus Caleb’s life compared to the ended lives of the other knights, proved that; a brave knight can only go so far, but a knight who has both God and wisdom will go a very long way.

The Couple That Adopted The Devil – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time in a place called America, there lived a lovely couple. This lovely couple didn’t believe in God and believed those who did were irrational.

The Couple couldn’t have children of their own so they decided to adopt one.
They ended up adopting the most adorable looking 9 year old they had ever seen. He had beautiful short blonde hair, big baby-blue eyes and the most angelic smile that have ever rested on the face of a child.

It wasn’t long before their precious little boy started showing signs of questionable sainthood. He seemed to derive pleasure in mischief. Soon the couple where having sleepless nights and sleepy days.

Weird things then began to happen and I’m talking really weird like: the couple going to sleep at night in their beds and waking up the next day outside the house on the front lawn, all the mirrors in the house mysteriously missing, finding weird sea food in their refrigerator, and the most troubling of all dreaming the same dream everyday – dreaming about the day they adopted the boy.

The Couple worked in the same company and they soon told some close co-workers over lunch break about what they were going through.

“The child may be possessed by demons I suggest you take him to church.”, a co-worker said.

“Nonsense, there is no such thing as demons and there is no such thing as angels and there is no such thing as a God. The world came into being from a big bang. In know that bangs and explosions tend to destroy things, but the big bang was an explosion that actually gave life.”, came the response.

The couple resorted to visiting all kinds of psychologists but only succeeded in spending a lot of money and getting nowhere.

It was not until the couple woke up one Tuesday in the middle of the night to find their little angel standing over them with a knife in his hand that they knew they had to try God. Thank God they woke up when they did or else they would have been killed in their sleep.

However, they weren’t out of the woods yet, they spent most of that night running away from their adopted son who was chasing them around the house with a knife in his hand. Hours later the child mysteriously stopped, fainted and lay still on the ground.

Without a second to lose they carried the boy straight to the church and waited for day to break and the Pastor to show up. Even though it wasn’t a Sunday they knew that the Pastor always came to church every other day to pray.

As soon as the Pastor came, he didn’t say a word he just reached for the sleeping child and lay his right hand on him.

Immediately, the child woke up and started acting all creepy and weird: rolling on the floor, screaming insanely and making all kinds of animal sounds.
Minutes later everything stopped and the Pastor told the couple that everything was Ok! now – that all the demons had left the boy.

From that day onwards the couple believed in God. They became disciples of Jesus and started going to Church. They had seen that there is a world outside the physical AND IT ALSO GOES TO PROVE THAT YOU MAY NOT BELIEVE IN MIRACLES BUT THE DAY YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON ONE YOU WOULD BELIEVE IN THEM.

The Banished Princess – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time in a land far away a beautiful princess was banished by an evil sorcerer.

In a single night of tragedy the sorcerer had killed her father the King, deceived the people of the land, assumed the throne and banished her (the only one left with royal blood) from her own kingdom. The sorcerer didn’t have the opportunity to kill her discreetly but he had to act quickly. Although he turned her people against her, they would rebel against him if he dared hurt her, so he banished her.

The banished princess’ life got a lot more complicated and when she just couldn’t take it anymore she decided to hang herself on a tree. Just before she was about to kick away the stool that stood between her and the floor, an angel appeared to her. The angel told her that she still had a great destiny to fulfil and even though her people didn’t know it, they needed her. He told her anything is possible to those who believe in Jesus and no mountain is too great to refuse to fall in the face of a believer in Jesus.

The angel instructed her to come down from the stool and walk a little distance towards the east that she would come to a little church. She should enter inside for the preacher would tell her words by which she would be saved.

Everything happened as the angel had said, after her encounter with the preacher she went back to her kingdom and confronted the sorcerer whose magic and spell upon the people fell to the mighty power in the name of Jesus.

From that day on, the name of Jesus was highly revered in her kingdom and she was crowned Queen and true ruler of all the land. Thanks be to Jesus.

My Little Sister’s Garage Sale – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time in a place much like where you live right now, there lived a cute little girl named Diana.

Today, Diana would be having a garage sale but unlike her previous garage sales her parents wouldn’t be around to supervise. This left the responsibility to her not so responsible but big brother, Timothy; who was fond of disobeying his parents as far as they never found out and it served his selfish desires.

Timothy got bored of supervising and taught it best that he run off to go play. As far as his little sister didn’t tell their parents, he wouldn’t be in trouble with them.

Timothy’s little sister begged him not to go that she didn’t like been left at home all alone but more importantly, by leaving he would be disobeying Mum and Dad. She reminded him that in their last Sunday School class the teacher preached about doing what’s right whether someone was watching or not. She pointed out that not only would he be acting without virtue by leaving, but he would also be disobeying and therefore dishonouring Mum and Dad; which is something that God warned against in the 10 commandments of Moses. In fact it is the only commandment with a promise. It promises long life to those who keep it.

But Timothy brushed aside all that Diana had to say. He was not going to bore himself to death supervising her garage sale. He was going to play with his friends.

Long after Timothy left, Diana realised she was not making as much money as she thought she would make. But that was until a guy with a briefcase and a black suit showed up. After a long talk he walked away with the Deed of Ownership of her parent’s house. Diana was proud of herself, even though the man was a tough negotiator she had managed to sell the house for 65 dollars. Although selling the house was not on the list of things she planned to sell, her parents would be very glad when they find out how much she sold it for.

When Timothy returned minutes before he knew his parents would return and found out what happened he felt like dying. He explained to Diana that the man she sold it to had ripped her off and now they would all he homeless.

Timothy knew he would have to take the blame. He couldn’t tell Mum and Dad that he wasn’t around when the man came. Besides even if he told his parents that he wasn’t there it would still be his fault for leaving. Timothy couldn’t believe the mess he was in.

He had disobeyed his parents may times before but this time, Boy! Was he going to get it. His tough boy persona faded as he sat on the pavement with tears streaming down his cheeks. If only he had listened to Diana’s previous words before he left and had stayed to honour his parents by obeying their instructions, none of this would have happened. Now whatever would he do? What was he going to tell his parents? And what would his parents do?

Just then, Mum and Dad showed up. Timothy felt as though his heart fell out of his chest. He cried uncontrollably and apologized over and over again as he explained what happened. He told the truth and promised to never disobey them again.

Then to his surprise, his parents smiled and calmed him down. They explained that the man who bought the house didn’t buy the house. He had been sent by them. The whole thing was a trick they pulled on Timothy so that he would learn a lesson and never again disobey them.

Timothy was both shocked and relieved to hear that. He felt like someone just poured a bucket of cold water on his troubled soul.

From then onwards, Timothy became a really good and obedient boy. He became a joy to his parents.

God Cares About Every Strand Of Hair On Your Head – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time in a place called America, there lived a little 10 year old girl who was very beautiful and had the most beautiful long blonde hair you’ve ever seen.

Sadly, all her hair would have to go for you see she was scheduled to have an operation – a brain surgery to be precise.

She was even more worried that her beautiful long blonde hair would have to be completely shaved then she was worried that a surgeon was going to poke a scalpel around her brain.

She prayed fervently and in tears all night long on the night before the surgery that her hair won’t be cut off that they would find a way to do the operation without her long beautiful hair being shaved off.

The next day on the day of the operation a world renowned brain surgeon visited the city to attend an old friend’s birthday. The head surgeon of the hospital and the world renowned surgeon were at one time close friends but now more of phone friends. The head surgeon called the world renowned brain surgeon just to exchange pleasantries and the friendly ‘Hi, nice of you to drop by in our city’ conversation but one thing lead to another and the world renowned surgeon found himself driving to his friends hospital to assist him with the 10 year old girls case. When he arrived he heard a side comment by one of the nurses about how the little girl cried all night that they were going to have to cut off her hair. He asked the little girl about it as she lay on the operating table and she said it was true. The world renowned surgeon then asked to see the scans again and after examining it he looked up at his friend and told him that due to the location of the tumour it would be possible for him to remove the tumour without cutting off the girl’s hair. Well, he wasn’t called world renowned for nothing. He was good. So good in fact many called him the “Wonder Surgeon” and I’m talking about the best of the best calling him that not novices to the field.

The routine sedative was injected into the drip so that the little girl could fall asleep while the operation took place.

In her dream she saw Jesus. She was happy to see Jesus and she thanked him that he had performed a miracle that he had sent a surgeon that can perform the operation without her losing a strand of her beautiful blonde hair.

Jesus didn’t seem too happy. She asked him what was wrong.

Jesus told her that he wasn’t happy because of her. He asked her if the surgeon doing the surgery without letting a strand of her hair fall to the ground was what she wanted.

She answered, “Yes.”

Jesus replied “No!.” Jesus told her that what she really wanted was for the tumour to be gone so she won’t even need the operation in the 1st place. Jesus explained that that was the problem with lots of Christians: When they are going through something they ask for a miracle that is more logical or easier to happen based on the assessment of their senses not faith.

What you really need is for me to make your tumour disappear, so you should have been praying that I do just that and not praying that you receive a miracle from a natural (unsupernatural) means which is in this case a medical operation, it only means you don’t believe I can do something big like making your tumour disappear so you just pray for something easy – something that had a little chance of happening even if you hadn’t prayed, instead of something that had no chance of happening – that is what a miracle is. I know you think you believe in my power at lot but your actions have proved that you don’t.

“Oh! … Wait! I get it now. A true miracle is a miracle that cannot be explained outside of you having something to do with it. It should be something so unnatural and unexplainable that it is undoubtedly supernatural.

So if the doctor removes the tumour and I give you praise for it and call it a miracle, it is not a true miracle.
Ok! Then I ask that you do something extra ordinary. Something that cannot be explained naturally and get rid of the cancer without letting the surgeon even touch me.”

Jesus smiled a wide smile. “Done! You have been healed”, Jesus said.

At that moment she woke up on the operating table. The world renowned surgeon was just about to start using his medial tool on her. He hadn’t even touched her yet. He was shocked that she woke up. The sedative was strong. She was supposed to be asleep for hours.
She demanded that they stop the operation. They were shocked. This had never happened before. She started bugging them that they should take another scan of her brain that they would see the tumour is gone.

They tried to convince her that it was impossible but she wouldn’t believe them.
She made so much trouble that they decided they would do a scan of her brain and show it to her that the tumour is still there so she can calm down and they may go back to operating on her after they pump her with sedatives – this time just to make sure, they would pump her with a lot more.

After doing the scan the hospital’s head surgeon couldn’t find the tumour, he showed the scan to the world renowned surgeon and he couldn’t find the tumour too.

They took another scan, the results were the same – there was no tumour. They repeated the test 6 more times but each time the result was the same there was no tumour. They had no choice they had to tell the little girl the good news – the unexplainable good news.

When they showed her; she smiled and said “I told you so.” She then preached the gospel of Jesus and the mystery of divine healing to them and at the end of the day many doctors and nurses in the hospital gave their lives to Christ including the head surgeon and the world renowned surgeon.

All was well and thanks be to Jesus the little 10 year old girl would live a normal happy life free of disease, sickness or brain tumours with not a strand of hair on her head lost. God truly care for us so much that not a strand of hair on our head falls to the ground without him taking it into account.

Read Now – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time but not far back in time at all; a little girl sat all alone in a beautiful garden… She had been crying for hours.

She was crying because she had a test coming up and she was going to fail it. She knew she was going to fail it because she hadn’t read – she hadn’t prepared.

She taught about the utter disgrace of failing. She taught about the friends she might lose. She taught about the classmates that would laugh at her. She taught about how upset her Mum would be. Her Mum had always believed in her. Would this change it? What if it did? She hadn’t read because she kept doing one thing or the other for the church. All through the week whenever she decided to sit down and study one church emergency or activity came up and she had to help out. Now the test would be tomorrow and she still hadn’t read – still hadn’t had time to read.

She was the Pastor’s daughter and even though she was still a little girl there were times she couldn’t help thinking her parents think she a minister in the children’s church. She was always called upon to help out whenever those who where actually appointed to run the children’s church needed help.

In a way although she did not want to say it she blamed God. It was God’s fault that she hadn’t prepared for the test. After all wasn’t it being called so often to do God’s work that had robbed her of the time to read and prepare for the test in the first place?

The little girl looked up to the heavens still crying, “What do you want me to do now?”

“Read. There are a lot of hours between now and tomorrow. The hours you are spending crying now, you could spend them reading.” God answered loud and clear deep within her heart.

Saving Mommy & Daddy – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time there lived a little boy named Todd. He was a very rough and stubborn boy. He didn’t know God and neither did his parents.

Todd was very notorious in his primary school and he was the headache of many teachers.

Things however changed when a fellow student in school led him to Christ. Todd had been feeling sick in school that morning and he threw up in the play ground. The fellow student saw him and walked up to him. He asked Todd if he would let him pray for him and Todd said Ok! not really knowing what to say.

The fellow student prayed for him and all the pain he had been feeling completely disappeared.

That was when the fellow student began to tell Todd about Jesus and Todd was curious to know more.

The fellow student ended up leading Todd to Christ and Todd became a Christian.
People started to see the change in Todd’s life, except for his parents.
Todd wanted to go to church one day but his parents beat him up for it.

From that day, Todd began to pray for the salvation of his parents. He also starts contacting the church in his neighborhood online via the e-mail address he got from their website the Pastor of the church referred him to the e-mail address of the female children’s pastor.

Todd starts corresponding with her and kind of starts getting schooled in the word of God by her. She encourages him to keep praying for his parents and that she is praying too.

Since Todd was not allowed to go to church, he had to be content with getting blessed by the church only through the word of God in the children’s resources that were available on the church’s website.

Soon, Todd’s parents started to see the change in Todd’s life. They applauded him for changing but they gave no credit to Christianity for it.

It so happened one day that everybody in the house caught the flu except for Todd. They noticed it and jokingly asked him why that was.

He told them that he is no longer subject to disease and sickness, that God has given him the power to lay hands on the sick and make them recover.

They laughed at him and said that he was very funny.

His Dad challenged him and said that if he prayed for them and they get healed that not only would they allow him go to church but they would go to church with him themselves.

Todd’s mouth dropped open. This was an opportunity. This was what he was praying for, but just not in the package he was praying for it to come in.
And on another note, what if he prayed and it didn’t work? He would only be taking a giant step backwards and only giving his parents more leeway in believing that Christianity is a sham.

Suddenly, Todd heard God speak to him that he should eliminate all doubt in his mind. And Todd did so.

Todd prayed for his parents and told them to do what they could not do before.

Todd practically pushed them up to their feet.

Seconds later, Todd’s parents where practically shouting that they were healed.

The following Sunday, they were they first ones to be present at church.

They gave their lives to Christ that day and Todd rejoiced that his parents were finally saved.

Terms Of Use – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time there lived a little girl named Lulu. She belonged to a nice Christian family and recently she had been sent to spend a couple of days at her Aunt’s house after which she would return home to her city to spend the rest of the holidays.

Lulu’s Aunt told Lulu not to use the computer in her room. But Lulu decided to sneak into her Aunt’s room when she was not around. She knew it was wrong but she just had to check her e-mail. Her Aunt’s dog barked at Lulu when she was about to enter her Aunt’s room but she told it to hush. However, it still kept barking. She then gave it some of the biscuits that she was eating. After the dog ate it, it kept quiet and went away.

Lulu checked her e-mail. She had no relevant new mail.

After she closed the web browser she noticed that her Aunt had a cool looking Movie Editing software that she had never seen before. Lulu decided to test it out then she found out that it was really easy to use. She got the hang of it in no time. She then downloaded a brand new video from the internet without reading the terms of use. She edits it and then she uploads it on a popular video sharing site.

When Lulu heard her aunt opening the front door down stairs she put off the computer and ran down to meet her.

Later, after the couple of days stay was over and Lulu had gone back home, the owners of the video used a law suit to compel the internet company to track down the IP address of the person who uploaded their edited videos.

Lulu’s Aunt gets in serious trouble.
The next day, Lulu overhears her parents saying that her Aunt had been apprehended by the authorities for uploading an edited video and infringing the copyrights of a music band which cost the band a lot of money and also ruined their reputation because the video had just been released before her Aunt got hold of it, and it is her edited version that people who no longer watch music videos on TV but go online to watch music videos taught was the real video and because of how poor it was it cost the band a lot of fans and money too.

Uh – Oh! Lulu’s heart started beating real fast. What is she going to do?

Satan, You Take The Bicycle I’ill Take The Car – by Alfred (a short story for kids)

Once upon a time there lived a young Christian man named Samuel. He loved God with all his heart and surrounded himself with good Christian friends.

Samuel was having a major problem though – a problem unlike regular problems you hear about everyday. But a problem that isn’t as rare as one might think it is.
Samuel’s problem was that he kept having bad dreams every night. It wasn’t that his dreams were so terrible it kept him up at night but it was that his dreams where so terrible that they orchestrated the tragedies that happened to him in the real world.

Sometimes when Samuel went to sleep he would dream that he lost his job and got a new job that pays way less and when he wakes up his dream would be fulfilled within that week. Sometimes Satan would come to him in his dreams and tell him that he would kill a relative of his and unfailingly within that week a relative of his would die of one sickness or the other.

This went on and on and Samuel didn’t tell anybody because he was afraid they would say that he is possessed or he is insane and then they would lock him up in an asylum. Thus, Samuel suffered in silence. Tragically, it was like Satan had a personal obsession with tormenting Samuel. One day, Satan appeared to him in a dream and told him that he has one week left to live.

Samuel gets extremely scared. He prepares his will and calls up old friends he hadn’t chatted with in a while. He does all the things that he wished he could have done that he never took out time to do. He had only one week left to live so he might as well take out all the money in his retirement savings and make this last week his best.

Samuel’s best friend named Jake, noticed all the strange changes in Samuel’s life and so he asks his friend what the problem is.

Samuel had never opened up to anybody about this before but he figured what’s he got to lose, after all he would be dying before the week is over. So Samuel told Jake everything, holding nothing back.

After Jake finished listening, he told Samuel that his problem is that he doesn’t know who he is. He doesn’t know that he is above Satan and it’s not the other way round. By virtue of the fact that we belong to Christ we have won already.

Jake explained to Samuel that the bible tells us that God had sitteth us in heavenly places with Christ Jesus far above all principalities and powers (especially Satan) so Satan should not be controlling Samuel’s life the way he is.

Jake told Samuel to stand on the authority of the word of God and challenge Satan. He shouldn’t just accept whatever Satan says would happen to him like that. He should be confident of who he is in Christ. He should know who he is because of, of whom he is (He belongs to God). He should send the devil running because as it is written, resist the devil and he would flee.
The devil is a coward. He is a coward by nature so if you stand your ground on the word he would flee. Besides, the word of God is too strong for him.

The anointing of God was strong as Jake spoke and by God’s awesome grace, Samuel understood and believed what Jake said. He went to bed that night hoping that Satan would actually show up in his dream.

Satan showed up. He showed Samuel visually in the dream and also told him that his car would soon be gone and it would be replaced with a bicycle two days before the day he is appointed to die.

Samuel boldly tells Satan that he should take the bicycle but the car is his. As a matter of fact if anything, God is going to bless him with a better car.
Satan was shocked.

He couldn’t believe that Samuel was challenging him.

Then Samuel added that he would not die at that appointed date.

As a matter of fact, if Satan thinks he’s lying he should come back a day after the day he said he would die and see if he is dead.

Satan’s eyes turned red and then he shouted at Samuel, “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?”

Then Samuel shouted back, “DO YOU KNOW WHOSE I AM?” Satan got the message and he fled.

Samuel rejoiced. He went on to live for decades after the day that Satan had said he would die. He had lived because he had understood and used his authority in Christ. To God be the Glory. Do you know whose you are?
